County Community Concert Association is very excited to announce its 2017-2018 Concert Series, bringing an exciting
series of concerts for your enjoyment. Again, we are bringing internationally known artists to Fremont County.
Our opener for the 2017-2018 Concert Series will be an October presentation by the ANDERSON BROTHERS JAZZ COMBO. Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary set of brothers performing music today. They're known for their exciting arrangements of jazz classics, pops, and fresh original music. Hailing from Washington, DC, they were recognized internationally as teenagers. Peter and Will are graduates of Juilliard in New York City. They have headlined at The Blue Note at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the New Orleans Jazz Festival, to name just a few.
From the stages of Carnegie Hall to Walt Disney World, pianist Roy Tan and violinist Rosemary Siemans will join us in November. ROY AND ROSEMARY have been capturing the hearts of audiences the world over with their fresh arrangements, musical versatility, soul-stirring passion, stellar musicianship and unique style. Without question, these two Canadian artists are one of North America's best kept secrets. They met while accompanying the Canadian Tenors on tour and now have joined forces to create one of the most exciting and dynamic musical duos in recent memory. A very unusual part of their show involves taking requests from the audience, often learning and arranging unfamiliar tunes and even composing pieces instantly.
One flute, one oboe, one clarinet, one bassoon, one French horn, WINDSYNC is a hot young ensemble quickly broadening the appeal of the woodwind quintet by mixing familiar classical music, some familiar lighter tunes and their interesting stage presentation and communication skills, all of which yields a great program for every audience. WINDSYNC will bring this program to Cañon City in February 2018. Their program has a distinctly American flavor, featuring masterworks written for wind quintet - including Samuels Barber's Summer Music - and their own transcriptions of uniquely America music like Copland's Variations on Simple Gifts, Bernstein's Overture to Candide, Gershwin's Summertime, and Ravel's Bolero. These five virtuoso players perform exclusively from memory and specialize in creative concerts that inspire audiences.
Our concert in March 2018 will present CLOUD 9 STRING QUARTET. Colorado artists, they longed to bring exciting and gorgeous string music to a broader audience. Cloud 9 was formed to show what strings can do with the rock/pops genre. They will bring those exciting sounds here to Fremont County.
Returning to Cañon City for an encore performance in April 2018, CAHAL DUNNE will bring us his Grand to be Irish Show. "Ireland's Happy Man" is a composer, classically trained concert pianist, singer, story teller, comedian and television personality. His style is rich and deep, reflecting the many sides of his distinguished career. He has performed for several American presidents. Cahal received his Musical Degree from the University College of Cork, He started a band in Ireland in 1977 and against all odds they made it. They won the equivalent of American Idol in 1979 with his own song "Happy Man." It was his first number one hit.
